On February 16, a ceremony was held to present certificates to the participants who successfully completed the first phase of the English for Academic Purposes program as part of the US Embassy"s Science, Culture, and Education programs in Azerbaijan.

Opening the event, Vice-Rector for International Relations assoc. prof. Gafar Atayev greeted the participants, spoke about the importance of the completed training and appreciated the cooperation between the US Embassy in Azerbaijan and SSU.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the US Embassy in Azerbaijan, Richard Pinkham counselor for Cultural affairs, Ramina Murshudova education specialist of Public relations department and Sabina Abdullayeva the manager of Virtual English program . Gafar Atayev expressed his pleasure to see the guests at our university, conveyed the greetings of our rector prof. Elkhan Huseynov to the participants of the event, and asked them to convey our greetings and gratitude to the US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mr. Le Litsenberger.

Afterwards, Richard Pinkham appreciated the fact that SSU took advantage of the opportunities offered by the US Embassy in the field of internationalization of education.

An 11-week training course called "English for Academic Purposes" started on October 18, at the initiative of the department of International cooperation and foreign students of SSU, the US Embassy in Azerbaijan in order to introduce English teachers new teaching methods at the international level and to develop the use of language skills at the academic level. According to the results of the online exam employee of the department of İnternational cooperation and foreign students Eminova Aysel, employees of the department of foreign languages Gunel Valiyeva and Lamiya Heydarova were awarded the first, second and third places respectively. In total, 20 participants who actively participated in the trainings and achieved high results were awarded certificates by the US Embassy by Richard Pinkham.

In February this year, the US Embassy in Azerbaijan will begin the next round of trainings for SSU staff.

Ramina Murshudova, Sabina Abdullayeva, head of the "Foreign Languages" department of the philological faculty prof. Nigar Isgandarova and other participants expressed their emotions and noted the importance of regular cooperation between the US Embassy in Azerbaijan and SSU.
