In order to prevent the coronavirus pandemic, at Sumgayit State University, first of all, professors, administrative and technical staff over 65 years of age, and then employees of other age categories gradually participated in the vaccination process. At present, in order to actively involve students in this process, on October 8 in the main educational building of the university the vaccination process was carried out by the medical team of the Sumgayit city polyclinic No. 3 of the remaining unvaccinated students.

It should be noted that this process was organized in accordance with the decision of the rector, Professor Elkhan Huseynov, to vaccinate unvaccinated students in an organized manner directly at the university. This creates a great basis for the continuation of the traditional learning environment.

Vice-Rector for Humanitarian Affairs, Associate Professor Ramiz Huseynov stressed the need to be vaccinated against the disease. He said that vaccination is a voluntary process, but it is very important to be vaccinated to avoid infection of the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection at SSU, regular disinfection works are carried out in the educational buildings of the university and sanitary-epidemiological measures are always in the center of attention. The vice-rector once again advised the staff and students to follow the sanitary-hygienic rules, to protect themselves from COVID-19 by wearing a mask and keeping for social distance.

A group of students who said they felt normal after the vaccination said there were no changes in their health.

It should be noted that the vaccination process is carried out in accordance with the "Strategy for Vaccination against COVID-19 in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2021-2022" approved by the Cabinet of Ministers on January 16, 2021. The main purpose of the strategy is achieving prevention, reduction of viral infection and mortality.
