On May 6, Sumgayit State University's Faculty of Chemistry and Biology hosted an online event on "Savior of the Azerbaijani people - Heydar Aliyev" dedicated to the 98th birthday of national leader Heydar Aliyev, organized by the Student Trade Union Committee and the Student Youth Organization.

The memory of national leader Heydar Aliyev commemorated with a minute of silence.

The event was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry and Biology, Associate Professor Mahal Muradov, who spoke about the glorious life of the wise leader, world-famous political figure Heydar Aliyev, his invaluable services to our people and homeland. He noted that today the National Leader laid the foundation for the comprehensive development of the Republic of Azerbaijan, which is considered by the leading world powers. Today, President Ilham Aliyev successfully continues the policy founded by national leader Heydar Aliyev. Dean noted that the struggle of the Great Leader for the liberation of our historical lands from enemy occupation was won by his worthy political successor, President Ilham Aliyev, noting that the historic victory was a triumph of Heydar Aliyev's policy.

Elmar Khalilov, Associate Professor of the Department of History of the Peoples of Azerbaijan and Eastern Europe, spoke about the historical services of the Great Leader to our country. He said that National Leader Heydar Aliyev is the savior of the Azerbaijani people and state. Undoubtedly, one of the greatest services of National Leader Heydar Aliyev to our people is the salvation of the Azerbaijani statehood and the opening of a new stage in the country's political history. Associate Professor Elmar Khalilov also stressed that today the program set by the National Leader is being resolutely implemented by President Ilham Aliyev. As a result, world-class projects are being implemented in Azerbaijan, and our country has become a significant power in the region.

In his speech, the head of the Department of Chemistry and its teaching methods, Associate Professor Musa Mustafayev made a report entitled "Great leader Heydar Aliyev will always live in the hearts of our people" and notified that as a result of Heydar Aliyev's far-sighted domestic and foreign policy, was ensured that our independence was eternal and irreversible.

Poems dedicated to the national leader were performed by students at the event. A video on the life and work of the great leader was shown.
