On January 7, Sumgayit State University hosted an online scientific-practical conference on "The role of the Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry in the development of science and education in Azerbaijan", dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry. The conference was attended by rectors and teaching staff of both universities. Opening the conference, Rector of Sumgayit State University Professor Elkhan Huseynov greeted the conference participants and congratulated them on the glorious victory. He noted that the Patriotic War for the freedom of our lands has become a heroic chronicle of our people. In this 44-day war, Azerbaijan put an end to nearly 30 years of occupation by crushing the enemy on the battlefield. Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev proved to humanity that he is the Leader of the Invincible People with 44 days of historic war! Rector congratulated a group of ASUOI employees on being awarded the highest honorary titles and state awards by the Orders of President Ilham Aliyev, and said that all this is a manifestation of the worthy attitude to the work of people in our country who have dedicated their lives to science and education, the education of the younger generation, the training of an army of specialists for our independent Azerbaijan. He noted that Sumgayit State University has been a branch of ASUOI for many years. Sumgayit State University was established on the basis of the Azerbaijan Industrial Institute by the Decree of the national leader Heydar Aliyev dated June 13, 2000. From that day, a new stage of development was laid in the socio-cultural life of Sumgayit, which gave a new impetus to the development of science and education in the city. The rector spoke about the important role of ASUOI in the Azerbaijani society, noting that it is an old higher education institution that trains highly qualified specialists for Azerbaijan and many countries around the world. This scientific and educational institution, which has contributed to the sustainable growth of the economy in the country for many years, has rendered important services in the successful implementation of the oil strategy of independent Azerbaijan. He noted that graduates working in various fields of the country's economy, making significant contributions to the overall development of our country, including prominent scientists and well-known statesmen, have always been distinguished by their professionalism. A musical contribution prepared by SSU students on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of ASUOI was presented. Rector of ASUOI, Professor Mustafa Babanli, first of all, congratulated the participants on the great victory in the Great Patriotic War thanks to the leadership of our victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief and the mighty Azerbaijani Army and wished God's mercy to our martyrs who gave their lives and blood for the territorial integrity of our country. He stressed that the fact that the 100th anniversary of the university coincides with such a glorious date. Under the leadership of President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, our army won a new history on the battlefield. Rector noted that in accordance with the relevant Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev dated February 6, 2020, the 100th anniversary of ASUOI was celebrated at the national level, taking into account the commendable services in the formation of highly qualified professional staff in the country and thanked the leadership and staff of SSU for the initiative to organize the event dedicated to the anniversary. He noted that one of the important reasons for the establishment of such a higher education institution in Azerbaijan 100 years ago was the existence of the oil industry in our country and the factors arising from its development. From time to time, this educational institution has played a special role in training highly qualified specialists and engineers not only for Azerbaijan, but also for dozens of countries around the world. Therefore, ASUOI graduates have a special place in the development of the oil industry in our country, as well as in the achievements in the field of geology and chemistry. After the signing of the "Contract of the Century" under the leadership of great leader Heydar Aliyev in 1994, the need for new, educated specialists in the development of the oil industry in our country was met at the expense of ASUOI graduates. Today, the university is able to cope with this mission. He noted that President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on awarding honorary titles to employees of the Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry. By the order, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry and a group of employees of the university were awarded honorary titles, orders and medals. This is the highest state value given to the work of scientists. In the conference dean of the Faculty of Information Technologies and Management of the Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry, Associate Professor Samad Yusifov delivered speech on "Exclusive role of ASUOI in the development of information technologies", Akbar Agayev, Head of the Department of Petrochemistry and Chemical Technology, Sumgayit State University, Professor, Honored Teacher, made a report on "The role of ASUOI in the development of science and education in Azerbaijan." Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Electroenergetics of SSU, Honored Teacher Tamella Ahmadova, Professor of the Department of Process Automation, Honored Teacher Ali Nagiyev, Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering and Energy Shikar Mammadov, Vice-Rector for Science and Innovations Professor Ramazan Mammadov, Professor Mukhtar Samadov, Associate Professor Musa Mustafayev made a speech. The speakers spoke about the historical achievements of ASUOI and its role in the labor market. They noted that along with the oil and gas sector, the university trains specialists in modern industries, as well as information technology, energy, petrochemistry, chemical technology. They spoke about their achievements, expressed their wishes and desires about the university. At the end of the conference, Rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov congratulated the university staff on the 100th anniversary of ASUOI and wished success to the university in its future activities.
