LSU welcomes the new academic year with innovations.

Despite the difficulties caused by the coronavirus pandemic - COVID-19, Lankaran State University (LSU) is entering the new academic year with heartwarming innovations. One of the main innovations is the reorganization of Lankaran State Humanitarian College into a Social and Agrarian Technological College with the status of a public legal entity under Lankaran State University in accordance with the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated July 10, 2020. Conformity of curricula in both higher education institutions and colleges in the same specialties will allow sub-bachelors graduating from college to graduate earlier than the normative period of study.

The main priority of the Lankaran State University for the 2020/2021 academic year is to create an experimental base of theoretical knowledge, and certain steps have been taken in this direction. At the initiative of Natig Ibrahimov, for the first time in the country, the Tourism Training Center under LSU - Seside Hotel was opened. Also, new, modern equipment was purchased from abroad for the laboratories "Veterinary", "Veterinary Surgery", "Food Technology" and "Food Safety and Ecology".

With the participation of students, tea was planted on 0.6 hectares, citrus plantations on 1.3 hectares, and 100 kiwi bushes were planted. One of the exciting innovations of the current academic year is the establishment of a nursery of relict and endemic plants typical of the southern region, the construction of a modern type of greenhouse.

It should be noted that, for the first time this year, LSU will train specialists in new specialties such as music teaching, geography teaching, international trade and logistics, plant protection.

In order to increase students" interest in education, university scholarships have been established for 5 students and masters at the expense of the university"s income, which will be given to students with high scores for semesters and no scholarships.

In recent years, Lankaran State University has launched major projects to modernize education, bring it up to modern world standards, create favorable working and teaching conditions for faculty and students. Two years ago, for the first time, 6 two-room apartments with an area of 50.5 square meters each were built and put into operation at LSU to ensure the mobility of faculty. This tradition continues this academic year and 12 more apartments were built for teachers will be carried out. This is due to the reconstruction and construction of a 45-bed former girls" dormitory.

It should be noted that the 2019/2020 academic year, which is coming to an end, was memorable for Lankaran State University with the commissioning of two new educational buildings and a 160-bed dormitory building. In the current academic year, another new educational building for 1,500 places will be built at LSU. The new educational building will be built on the territory of the second educational building. The reconstruction of the old educational building in this building into a 350-bed dormitory building, the construction of a new building, and the presence of a modern canteen in the area are designed to create a campus environment for students and teachers.

The overhaul of the scientific library of LSU will be carried out in the current academic year. The old building, built in the 70s of the last century, does not meet modern requirements, so the facade will be demolished and reconstructed. A modern assembly hall and reading rooms will be located on the first floor of the building, and library staff and departments will be located on the second floor.

And finally, the next increase in salaries at LSU from September 1 has stimulated the staff to start the new academic year with a good meal.
