On June 23, the next defense of the dissertation of the second-year masters who successfully completed their scientific and pedagogical practice was held at the Faculty of Philology. In accordance with the requirements of the current situation, the defense was conducted online through the Zoom program.

Dean of the Faculty of Philology, associate professor, Sevinj Hamzayeva, head of the Doctoral and Master"s Department, associate professor Sabir Khalilov, heads of departments and academic supervisors took part in the defense. Poet, Member of Parliament Sabir Rustamkhanli and presidential pensioner, poet Ashraf Veysalli were also invited to the defense as guests. Sabir Rustamkhanli, who could not join the defense for some reason, called in advance and thanked for the invitation, wished success to the masters, and thanked the university administration for the initiative and attention. Another guest of the defense, poet Ashraf Veysalli, took part in the online viewing until the end.

First of all, the dean of the faculty, associate professor Sevinj Hamzayeva said that in accordance with the current situation caused by the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), distance learning was organized online at the university, as well as at the Faculty of Philology, and all technical facilities were created by the university administration. Sevinj Hamzayeva said that a number of important decisions were made in favor of students in connection with the ongoing exam sessions at the bachelor"s and master"s levels. She thanked the rector of the university Elkhan Huseynov for his care and attention to students and teachers. After wishing success to the young defenders, the floor was given to the chairman of the defense, Professor of the Department of Azerbaijan and World Literature Rafig Aliyev.

The works of Nagizade Sakina Elmar gizi, Abdullayev Mughdat Jabbar oglu and Shabizade Vusal Ali oglu, masters of M-914 group on the specialty of Azerbaijani literature were discussed in the defense.

Master Vusal Shabizade presented his scientific work "Journalism of Sabir Rustamkhanli", gave information about the journalistic creativity and research of Sabir Rustamkhanli, a prominent representative of Azerbaijani literature and journalism.

Speaking about the scientific work "Ashraf Veysalli"s poetry", another master Sakina Nagizade noted that for the first time the creative path of the poet Ashraf Veysalli was systematically analyzed. The research work also drew attention to the author"s poetry from the point of view of subject-content and idea-problem, literary position.

At the end, Mughdat Abdullayev informed about the dissertation work "Traces of fire-worship in Nizami Ganjavi"s works".

All three master"s theses were submitted to the defense in accordance with the requirements.

Members of the commission expressed their views on the defense and spoke about the relevance of the dissertation.

Poet Ashraf Veysalli, who attended as a guest, also expressed his satisfaction with the defense, congratulated the young people who graduated from the master"s degree, and wished young people with such high knowledge to work as qualified personnel in the future.

In their speeches, the young people thanked the rector, Professor Elkhan Huseynov, the dean of the faculty Sevinj Hamzayeva and their teachers for their attention and care during their studies, and expressed confidence that the knowledge and experience gained here will play an important role in their future activities.
