On April 24, Minister of Education Jeyhun Bayramov held a video conference with senior officials of the ministry’s apparatus and rectors of educational institutions.

The Minister of Education informed the participants of the videoconference in detail about the status of execution of instructions from the government to minimize the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. He also introduced a number of problems related to the temporary suspension of the educational process in the country since the beginning of March.

It was noted that according to the recommendations and instructions given to educational institutions since March, they conduct classes remotely. More than 95 thousand students have connected to the platforms used for this purpose as Microsoft Teams and some others to this day, and this process continues to expand. According to the recommendations, educational institutions that have gained positive experience in distance learning, share it and discussions continue in the conditions of mutual cooperation.

The Minister of Education noted that the Cabinet of Ministers approved an action plan to implement the decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev on March 19. According to the action plan, compensation is provided in the amount of 40 million AZN to pay for the education of students from low-income families. The execution of the decision is assigned to the executive units of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance, and the execution period is 2020. Higher education institutions are entrusted with the collection of relevant applications from students belonging to this category. It is planned to place these appeals in the subsystem created by the “Centralized Information System of Education”, starting next week.

In addition, taking into account the existing situation, an exchange of views was held on the organization of the student assessment process based on the results of the second academic half-year, and the ministry made recommendations in this direction. All higher education institutions are entrusted with submitting to the Ministry of Education concrete proposals on the implementation of these measures.

At the videoconference, proposals and recommendations on the agenda were heard, discussions took place.
