According to the decision made at the online meeting of the Scientific Council of Sumgayit State University, 50,000 manat was transferred to the Coronavirus Support Fund established by the relevant decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

Rector of Sumgayit State University, Professor Elkhan Huseynov said at an online meeting of the Scientific Council that the coronavirus (COVID-19) infection is of concern to countries around the world and, unfortunately, is spreading rapidly. In order to prevent the spread of the virus in the territory of Azerbaijan, our state is taking operative and preventive measures, and this work continues. The recommendations and requirements of the World Health Organization are strictly followed in our country. In order to help eradicate this disease, which worries the Azerbaijani public, organizations operating in our country are actively involved in the process of providing financial assistance to the Coronavirus Support Fund, established by the decree of the President of Azerbaijan dated March 19, 2020. This historical event once again proved the unity of the Azerbaijani people.

The rector also noted that despite the suspension of classes at the university, the teaching process continues online today.

Rector Elkhan Huseynov instructed the members of the Council to be united in this matter, to take a responsible approach to the decisions made by the state, to follow the requirements and recommendations of the Operative Headquarters under the Cabinet of Ministers.
