On June 13, opening ceremony of Teaching Center was arranged, which was instituted within ERASMUS+PETRA project (Promoting teaching and training at Azerbaijani universities) at Sumgayit State University dedicated to National Salvation Day of Azerbaijani people.

At first the guests laid flowers in front of bust of national leader Heydar Aliyev in the foyer of university and visited Heydar Aliyev Center and Electronic laboratory.

Rector prof.Elkhan Huseynov cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening of Center with Parviz Baghirov, the director of ERASMUS+ Azerbaijan representativeness.

The opening ceremony was attended by Parviz Baghirov, the director of ERASMUS+ Azerbaijan representativeness, employee of representativeness Zafar Hasanov, head of Quality Assurance department of Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University Rashad Sadigov, director of Teaching Center of Khazar University Ulkar Bayramova, chief of English philology department of Baku Slavic university, project manager Natavan Babayeva, docent of Department of Stylistics of English language and lexicology of Azerbaijan University of Languages, project manager Zarina Aslanova and professor-teaching staff of SSU.

Rector of university prof.Elkhan Huseynov delivered speech and congratulated everyone on occasion of 15 June – National Salvation Day of Azerbaijani people. He said, “Election of Heydar Aliyev the chairman of Supreme Soviet on June 15, 1993 is the salvation date of our nation. National leader Heydar Aliyev saved Azerbaijani statehood from the threat with his second return to authority, justified the nation’s trust and paved the way for stability and progress. Heydar Aliyev protected our nation’s independence, eliminated socio-political crisis and laid the foundation of development. Reputation of Azerbaijan is growing in region and in the world. Azerbaijan gains achievements by actively participating at leading projects of the world. Successful projects are carried out at Sumgayit State University in order to integrate into world education system, especially into European education arena and benefit from advanced experience. The university known by higher educational institutions of CIS, Turkey and some European states with success achieved on integration to European values, has become famous not only with material-technical base, auditoria, laboratories supplied with further achievements of ICT, but also with its scientists, famous lecturers, cadre potential and professor-teaching staff. SSU has joined to several international projects as a partner. ERASMUS+PETRA project is one of them. The university joined to PETRA project of European Union ERASMUS program in 2016. University associates attended trainings, seminars and conferences at Gazi University of Turkey, Vienne University of Applied Sciences of Austria, University of Jyväskylä of Finland, Valencia Polytechnic University of Spain, Khazar University of Azerbaijan within the project”.

Rector also highlighted that Teaching Center instituted within the project will serve rising of level of professionalism of university lecturers, as well as quality and efficiency of teaching process.

Chairwoman of International Cooperation Department PhD in history Samira Mammadova emphasized the significance of arrangement of opening ceremony on National Salvation Day, spoke about services of Heydar Aliyev in education sphere of Azerbaijan and gave information about activity of SSU within PETRA project.

The guests expressed their gratitude to Professor Elkhan Huseynov for sincere attitude and congratulated the collective of university for the opening of Teaching Center and Electronic laboratory. They gave wide information about the goals of Teaching Center within the project, intended plans, trainings and seminars.
