On May 14, award ceremony was held of subject Olympiad on physics under the motto “Today’s pupil is tomorrow’s scientist” among IX-XI grade schoolchildren of Sumgayit city, dedicated to 70th anniversary of Sumgayit city.

Professor-teacher staff, the winners of I, II and III places, their parents and teachers took part in the ceremony.

Commencing the event, vice-rector of university docent Ramiz Huseynov congratulated the pupils, who were winners in the Olympiad, their teachers and parents, as well. He emphasized that the purpose of holding the Olympiad is to open up capable pupils and to advance their potential. Therefore, subject Olympiads are held at our university in every academic year. This kind of Olympiads which were held in objective and fair conditions increases the pupil’s interest to proper subjects. Vice-rector also said: “As it is noted in the Decree issued by President Ilham Aliyev, related to 70th anniversary of Sumgayit city, the city bestows contributions to the improvement of science, education and culture. Sumgayit State University has a special role in this process”.

Dean of Physics and electroenergetics faculty docent Tamella Ahmadova congratulated the winners and pointed out that Olympiads, knowledge competitions are of great importance for improving scientific potential and talent of youth. She emphasized that today’s ceremony is one of the substantial events for scientific life of not only our university, but also of our city. The dean spoke about created circumstances for students, laboratories, Linguistic Center, library, which was equipped with modern and rich books at our university.

In the end the winners were awarded. Certificates and presents presented to winners of I, II and III places.
