THE EVENT DEDICATED TO MARCH 31-GENOCIDE OF AZERBAIJANIS AT CHEMISTRY AND BIOLOGY FACULTY
An event dedicated to March 31 – Genocide Day of Azerbaijanis was held at the Faculty of Chemistry and biology on March 29.
At first, martyrs and victims of the genocide were commemorated with a minute of silence.
Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry and biology docent Mahal Muradov, opening the event, spoke about genocide crimes committed by Armenian bolsheviks in several parts of Azerbaijan in March, 1918. In Heydar Aliyev’s order “On genocide of Azerbaijanis” signed on March 26, 1998 a full and comprehensive legal and political assessment was for the first time given to these actions and genocide of Azerbaijanis by Armenians was declared to the world.
Docent of Department of Azerbaijani and Eastern European nations’ history Amirkhan Isayev, head of the Department of Chemistry and its teaching methods docent Musa Mustafayev, docent of the Department of Biology and its teaching methods Khanahmad Hasanov and students delivered speech in the event. They noted that as a result of those crime acts hundreds of residential areas were destroyed, thousands of Azerbaijanis were killed brutally and many people were expelled from their homes. March 31 genocide of Azerbaijanis is one of the tragic and dreadful pages of XX century. Massacre and deportation policy against Azerbaijani people continued in stages. At the end of XIX, beginning of XX century, especially in 1905-1907, crimes committed against Azerbaijanis in Baku and other regions was the next phase of genocide policy of Armenians. In those years Armenian nationalists committed slaughters in Baku, Ganja, Garabagh, Iravan, Nakhchivan, Ordubad, Sharur-Daralayaz, Tbilisi, Zengezur, Gazakh and other regions. The speakers called young generation not to forget the history about genocide.
The poems dedicated to genocide were recited by students and the documentary reflecting genocide events demonstrated at the end of the event.
