On March 14, the training and mentoring event was held on the base of “New Idea VI” startup competition at Sumgayit State University.

“New Idea” startup competition commenced for the 6th time, which was held for the purpose of advancement of innovative entrepreneurship. The contest was held by the organization of Baku Engineering University and BP’s financial support.

Vice-rector on Science and Innovations Professor Ramazan Mammadov hailed the guests and participants and gave information about reforms carried out for development of entrepreneurship which is the priority direction of economic policy conducted by the leadership of President of Azerbaijan Republic, as well as about events held for supporting startup projects. He noted: “New Idea” startup competition is the project that supports advancement of innovative entrepreneurship. The object of holding the project is revealing national startups and supporting their improvement. Recently, the activities on startups are increasing at the universities, startup teams are formed. Sumgayit State University also gains great achievements on this sphere”.

Head of Baku Engineering University Technopark and project manager of “New Idea” startup competition Isa Gasimov, his assistant Tengiz Aghakishiyev, trainer-mentors Rashad Eyvazov, Rashid Aliyev and Vusal Karimli took part in the event and informed everyone about the terms of competition, opportunities and application rules and also responded the students’ questions.
