OLYMPIAD ON MATHEMATICS AMONG STUDENTS ON OCCASION OF SCIENCE DAY
On March 9, the Olympiad organized on mathematics among students by the organization of Mathematics faculty of Sumgayit State University.
Dean of Faculty docent Zafar Huseynov delivered speech and notified that “Development conception of Sumgayit State University till 2025” and “Development strategy of education in SSU” have been prepared by the organization of Professor Elkhan Huseynov since 2014. He noted: “Conception includes the issues like modernizing and integrating education system of University into world education arena and modernizing scientific research system. The main strategic purpose is to make SSU the center of education-research-innovation. Holding Olympiad in our faculty is of great importance for realizing the idea of creating scientific environment in the University”.
The member of organizing committee of Olympiad, head of Department of Mathematics and its teaching methods docent Khalida Hasanova pointed out that March 27 is marked as “Science Day” in Azerbaijan Republic by the Order of President Ilham Aliyev dated April 9, 2018. She notified significance of science in advancement of society and need for intelligent, skillful specialists. Khalida Hasanova wished participants success.
Afterwards, chief of Department of Mathematical analysis and Functions theory Professor Nabi Gurbanov and chief of Department of Differential equations and optimization Professor Fikrat Feyziyev spoke in the event and said that holding this kind of events is substantial in terms of creating interest to science.
Knowledge competition held among I, II and III course students of all specialties of Mathematics faculty. About 80 students responded the questions within 3 hours.
