SPORT COMPETITION DEDICATED TO “YEAR OF NASIMI” AMONG COLLABORATORS CONCLUDED
According to Decree of President Ilham Aliyev on declaring 2019 as “Year of Nasimi”, interfaculty competitions started on 3 types of sport (draughts, chess and backgammon) among collaborators of Sumgayit State University and Sumgayit State Technical College under SSU on February 7. This Decree is a respect to the creativity of the great poet. Several events, exhibitions, competitions are held both in our country and abroad on this occasion.
Organization of such competitions serves revealing sport skills of associates and supporting them. State care is growing to sport year by year. Therefore our country has gained substantial achievements in this field recently; our sportsmen have represented Azerbaijan in international sport competitions decently. Sumgayit State University also contributes to this field. Employees and students are regularly doing different kinds of sport: football, table tennis, badminton, shooting, volleyball, chess, and draughts in our sport club. As a result, SSU students and associates actively participate at several contests and gain achievements.
It should be noted that at first, associates started to play on draughts. 8 teams joined to the competition and it was held in 2 subgroups. Engineering faculty awarded I place, Chemistry and Biology faculty II place and History and Geography faculty III place.
On chess, Engineering faculty was awarded I place, Chemistry and Biology faculty II place, Physics and Electroenergetics faculty III place, Philology faculty IV place, Mathematics faculty V place, Economics and Management faculty VI place, History and Geography faculty VII place and Sumgayit State Technical College VIII place.
On backgammon, Chemistry and Biology faculty was awarded I place, Economics and Management faculty II place and Engineering faculty III place.
The competitions kept on from February 7 to 14.
