THE WINNERS OF OLYMPIAD “FOREIGN LANGUAGE – THE WAY TO CAREER” WERE AWARDED AT SSU

On May 5, the award ceremony of Olympiad “Foreign language – a way to career” was held by the organization of Sumgayit State University and Sumgayit Department of Education dedicated to 95th Anniversary of Great leader Heydar Aliyev and 100th Anniversary of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic which was organized for pupils of IX-XI classes and for the first time on subjects of English, Russian and German languages.
Rector of University Professor Elkhan Huseynov congratulated the pupils who were the winners in the Olympiad, their teachers and parents. He noted: “A series of events, conferences and Olympiads dedicated to 95th Anniversary of Great leader Heydar Aliyev and 100th Anniversary of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic are held in our University. Heydar Aliyev always paid special attention to science and education; his ideas were successfully carried out by President Ilham Aliyev and first vice-president, chairwoman of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva”. Rector emphasized that Sumgayit State University has become one of the prestigious educational centers of the country and region by reinforcing its material-technical base. Various projects are carried out for development of cadre potential. Our University cooperates with several leading educational institutions, implements student and teacher interchange, gains important success in direction of giving dual diplomas and strengthens its international relations. The purpose of holding Olympiads in our University is to expand relations among universities and schools. The number of participants attending to subject Olympiads at Sumgayit State University is increasing recently; cooperation is improving on a regular basis.
The winners of the Olympiad were awarded with honorary diplomas and presents by Sumgayit State University and Sumgayit Department of Education.
The subject Olympiad held at our university consisted of 2 stages. 57 out of 240 pupils in Azerbaijani and Russian sectors won the license to second round.

In the end, dean of faculty of Philology docent Sevinj Hamzayeva, head of Department of Foreign Languages Professor Nigar Isgandarova and the parents expressed their gratitude to the Rector of University Professor Elkhan Huseynov for created circumstances in organization of Olympiad.
