Work in the field of international cooperation in Sumgayit State University was carried out by two bodies: International relations office and working group on TEMPUS projects.
International relations office began to function according to order № 88/06 of rector of Sumgayit State University dated 09.06.2001 under the leadership of docent Ramziyya Zulfugarova.
In 2001-2006 the head of International relations office was Orujova Kamala Aydingizi, in 2006-2007 Mammadova Sudaba Mammad gizi, in 2008-2014AhmadovaRuhiyya Jamal gizi, in 2014-2017 docent Huseynov Turgay Kilim oglu. Mammadova Samira Isgandar gizi has been leading the office since 04.01.2018. In 19.05.2014 International relations office has been canceled due to the order of Professor E.B.Huseynov. According to the same order International cooperation office was established in the University.
Participation in international associations
Sumgayit State University was elected a member of Association in the Forum of Association of Universities of Caspian states which was held in Astrakhan State University in September 18, 2014. Professor R.S.Mammadov, vice-rector for Science and Innovations represented the University in the Forum. SSU was a member of Association of Azerbaijani-Russian Universities established within the Forum of Association of Azerbaijani-Russian Universities held at ADA in November 19-20, 2015.The co-chair of the Association is Professor E.B.Huseynov.
Participation in international projects
SSU has been participating in several international projects and continues its participation.
•2002-2004. MP-JEP-23264-2002 (AZE) Modern engineering training in high schools of Azerbaijan. Project coordinator was University of Applied Sciences in Cologne (German).Partner universities were Heerlen University of Applied Sciences in Netherlands, Azerbaijan State Oil Academy, Azerbaijan Technical University and Polytechnic Institute of Mingachevir.
•2006-2009. CD JEP-27035-2006 (AZE) Master training of energy management for the chemical industry. Project Coordinator was University of Applied Sciences in Cologne (Germany). Partner Universities were Warsaw University of Technology and Azerbaijan State Oil Academy.
•2009-2010. Project NATO PDD (SPS)– (EAP.GLG.983752)
Public health and environmental pollution in Azerbaijan. Project coordinator was BASF (Germany). Partner organizations: Azersu, Ludwigshafen city municipality
•2010-2012. 159239 – TEMPUS -1-2009-1-SE-TEMPUS-JPGR Establishing innovative network among universities for the development of relations with industrial enterprises. Project coordinator was Sweden’s Royal Institute of Technology. Partner universities: University of Warwick in UK; University of Krakow in Poland; State Oil and Gas, Tyumen State Oil and Gas, Ufa State Oil and gas, Ukhta State Technical universities in Russia, Ivano-Frankovsk National Technical University Oil and Gas, Poltava National Technical Universities; Polotsk State University of Belarusian State Technical University and Azerbaijan State Oil Academy
•2011-2015. 516678-TEMPUS-1-2011-1-DE-TEMPUS-JPCR Adapting Bologna process of learning process for engineering education. Project coordinator was Cologne University of Applied Sciences (German). Partner universities and organizations: Graz Technical University, Warsaw Technical University, Azerbaijan State Oil Academy and Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan Republic.
•2013-2016. TEMPUS-1-2013-1-AZ-TEMPUS-JPGR Establishment of disabled people’s integration into HEIs of Azerbaijan. Project coordinator was Khazar University. Partner universities and organizations: University of Graz (Austria), University of Macedonia (Greece), University of Lodz (Poland), European Human Consultancy (Netherlands), Azerbaijan State Economic University, Sumgayit State University, Lankaran State University, Ganja State University, Nakhchivan State University, Azerbaijan Union of Organizations of disabled people.
•2013-2016. 543893-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-AZ-TEMPUS-SMGR Development and improvement of the University Administration on International Affairs Project Coordinator was Azerbaijan State Economic University. Participation in Exchange programs
In 2015 SSU has joined to Mevlana Exchange Program. Within the Exchange Program exchange protocols were signed between Adiyaman University, ChankiriKaratekin University, Nevsheir Haji BektashVeli University, Sakarya University,NejmettinErbakan University, and Adnan Menderes University.
Sumgait State University carries out international cooperation within the agreements signed with the universities of Turkey, Russia,Iran, England, Germany, France, Austria, Hungary, Spain, Greece, Poland, Ukraine, Israel, Kirgizstan, and Tajikistan.
