On November 24, essay writing competition called “My native university” dedicated to the 55th anniversary of Sumgayit State University was finalized.
Vice-Rector for Humanitarian Issues docent RamizHuseynov noted in his speech that the 55th anniversary of the university is a significant event in the history of the city and the high school has special place in education system of Azerbaijan, as well as in public-political life of Sumgayit. Emphasizing that its success is growing year by year vice-rector notified that material-technical base established at the university and professor-teaching staff involved in educational process are for constantly raising the level of education and making it closer to world standards. He added that these factors pave the way for students to be highly educated and our country needs the best professionals in all fields. He expressed his belief in SSU alumni’s role in future permanent sustainable development of the country. 
Docent Ramiz Huseynov also stressed that the main aim of composition contest is to discover creative students, including raising students’ writing skill, knowing their thoughts and suggestions related to the university and to organize information exchange between teachers and students more perfect.
It should be noted that the competition was held in two rounds. In the first stage 49 essays were selected out of 292 writing samples. The competition was held during an hour under the control of supervisors. According to the decision of the jury, first year student of philology faculty Elmira Yagubova, fourth year student of history and geography faculty Ismayil Fakhtiyev and third year student of chemistry and biology faculty Gunel Rahimova were awarded first, second and third places respectively.
