AN EVENT WAS HELD IN SSU RELATED TO THE EVENTS OF SUMGAIT
It has been 36 years since the Sumgait events that took place on February 27-29, 1988. Time has shown that these events lead to the beginning of a great political game. In this regard, it is very important to remember and analyze the events of Sumgait as the beginning of further bloody events. For this purpose, on February 27, an event was held on the occasion of the 36th anniversary of the events committed by Armenians in February 1988 under the organization of the Faculty of Philology of Sumgait State University.
Speaking about the purpose and essence of the event, the dean of the Philology Faculty, Associate Professor Gunel Pashayeva, who opened the event with an introductory speech, said that the events in Sumgait were part of the insidious and chain plan of the Armenians called ‘Great Armenia’.
After watching the video about the events of Sumgait, professor of the Department of Foreign Languages, doctor of philology Ramazan Mammadov spoke as both a live witness and an outstanding researcher of the events of Sumgait. Speaking about the events of Sumgait, he said that the city of Sumgait, located 30 km from Baku, was not chosen by chance. On that eve, most of the more than 41,000 Azerbaijani Turks, who were forced out of Armenia, settled in Sumgait and were angry because of the atrocities committed by the Armenians against them. Even in Soviet times, the local population of the city, which was called a ‘dead zone’, was inclined to take radical steps due to poverty and misery. Therefore, it was possible to create large-scale riots here. As a result of the riots that lasted for a day, Armenian houses were destroyed, dozens of people were injured, 32 people, including 26 Armenians, 5 Azerbaijani Turks, and 1 Lezgi were killed. It is a pity that we lost the information war from the first days when the hated enemy made a territorial claim. We could not convey to the world community the real essence of the Sumgait events, which were prepared by the insidious intention of the Armenians and their patrons in Moscow and abroad. In order to divert the attention of the world community from the atrocities committed against our compatriots in the years after these events, Armenians constantly spread lies and slanders about the events of Sumgait, prepare dozens of websites about it, print and distribute books, make regular speeches in the foreign press, and even distribute photos of the Khojaly massacre under the name of Sumgait genocide. they don't hesitate.
Then, the head of the Department of Foreign Languages, Professor Nigar Iskenderova, made a speech and stated that the research works of Professor Ramazan Mammadov in this direction are commendable and noted that several books based on his script were translated into Turkish, Russian and English languages and delivered to the world community.
At the end, discussions were held on the topic and the students' questions were answered.
