The new rector of Sumgait State University was introduced to the staff of the educational institution.

Firudin Gurbanov, Deputy Minister of Science and Education, who first congratulated the staff of the university on the new academic year on behalf of those who participated in the introduction, then informed about the Decrees of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev dated September 13, 2023, read both Decrees.  

Deputy Minister continued his speech in the direction of the appointment of Rufat Azizov to a new position and noted about former rector Elkhan Huseynov's pedagogical, academic, and as well as diplomatic activities, too. Stating that Professor Elkhan Huseynov's services as the rector of SSU remained a year of reforms in the life of the university, Firudin Gurbanov noted that the strengthening of the material and technical base of the higher educational institution, the construction and commissioning of a modern student dormitory, and a sports complex took place against the background of the reforms. Deputy Minister conveyed The Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev’s gratitude due to the effective work of Professor Elkhan Huseynov, and emphasized that Elkhan Huseynov’s knowledge, and skills, rich work experience have been useful in the life of the next generation. The speaker who talked about the main duties that meeting the updated standards ahead of higher education institution that is preparing personnels at two stages, notified that the newly appointed Rector and the personnel will overcome this.

"Teaching in our universities is built mainly on theoretical knowledge, but advanced world experience shows that practical knowledge and skills should be preferred"- said the deputy minister, he reminded that the priority of the content and peculiarity of local development in personnel training, then stated that he believes that the higher education institution will achieve success in this direction.

Taking the floor for the speech, professor Elkhan Huseynov thanked the adminstration and wished success to the newly appointed rector Rufat Azizov. He said that he believes that the highest results will be achieved with the collective of SSU: "I am sure that the creative approach and energy of youth will show for itself."

Professor Elkhan Huseynov said that he was honored to serve the political course of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the path of reforms taken by president Ilham Aliyev, regardless of his position, expressed his gratitude to the university staff for their support in joint work.

Rector Rufat Azizov expressed his gratitude to the president of the country, Ilham Aliyev, for showing him high trust, noting that each trust creates personal responsibility, and expressed his belief that the potential of Sumgait State University, which has formed its own traditions for more than 60 years, will be revealed to the maximum: "When preparing staff, our goal is to cultivate the graduaters to respond the demand in the labor market, not only today's, but also tomorrow's demand in accordance with the standards".

Rector Rufat Azizov stated that the training of these personnel is a priority for the military industrial complex and noted that social calls will be answered in this regard. Like every educational institution, the main target of Sumgait State University is to train patriotic, knowledgeable young people.
