RECTOR OF SSU PARTICIPATED IN THE OPENING CEREMONY OF THE PROJECT ERASMUS+KA2
On May 15, the first meeting of the Erasmus+KA2 project "Green and sustainable global economic improvement in Azerbaijan universities: renewable energy and climate change mitigation" (REFRESH) was held at the Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC). We should note that UNEC is the coordinator of the project from the Azerbaijani side.
The purpose of the event was to present the work plan and division of work to be carried out by stages in the project, to establish Management and Quality Councils, to discuss financial management issues and to clarify possible questions.
Rector of UNEC, prof. Adalat Muradov made an opening speech at the event, welcomed the guests and expressed his satisfaction to see them at the university, stated that the REFRESH project aims to increase the quality and relevance of higher education in Azerbaijan by strengthening the capabilities of universities to develop and implement modernized and innovative curricula.
At the event, representatives of partner universities from the European Union (EU) - Viktor Kordas from the Royal Institute of Technology (RIT), Mads Peter Sorensen from the Technical University of Denmark (TUD), Domiziano Mostacci from the University of Bologna (UNIBO), Amparo Cortes Lucas from the University of Barcelona spoke about the success of the Erasmus projects. They shared their thoughts.
The heads of the local partner universities are professor Elkhan Huseynov - rector of Sumgayit State University (SSU), Shahin Bayramov - rector of Mingachevir State University, Natig Ibrahimov - rector of Lankaran State University, Yashar Omarov- deputy rector of Azerbaijan University of Technology, as well as Peter Mikhalko - ambassador of the European Union to Azerbaijan, Parviz Bagirov - director of the National Erasmus Office. Bagirov, Javid Abdullayev - director of the State Agency for Renewable Energy Sources under the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan participated in the event.
Later, the rectors of local partner universities listened to their speeches.
Rector professor Elkhan Huseynov presented the team participating in the REFRESH project from SSU and expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the project. Then, he talked about the experience of the projects funded by the European Union, in which SSU participated until now, he invited Peter Mikhalko, the ambassador of the European Union to Azerbaijan, to the university in order to further expand these relations.
Sadagat Fatullayeva, head of the department of International cooperation and foreign students of SSU, and associate professor Turgay Huseynov, head of the department of Electromechanics participated in the two-day event.
