A series of events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of National leader Heydar Aliyev continues at SSU. On May 8, the event  "Leader of the Century" dedicated to the Great Leader was held under the joint organization of the Engineering faculty of SSU, the Student Trade Union Committee (STUC) and the Student Youth Organization (SYO). First, the dear memory of the Great Leader was commemorated with a minute"s silence. Opening the event with an introductory speech, the dean of the faculty, associate professor Ulduz Agayev emphasized that Heydar Aliyev is one of the few political leaders who became a symbol of independent statehood in history. He noted that this personality, who had leadership qualities, innate talent, and a high sense of patriotism  ensured development in the most recent history of our country. Years will pass, generations will replace each other, but the visionary and wise policy of Heydar Aliyev, the pride of the Azerbaijani people, will always illuminate our paths to a successful future.

Later, videos dedicated to National Leader Heydar Aliyev were shown.

Then Ali Gurbanov, a first-year student of the faculty, spoke on the topics of "Heydar Aliyev"s life", and Dilbar Dargahova, a second-year student, spoke "Heydar Aliyev"s politics" and gave detailed information to the event participants about the honorable life path and rich political activities of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

In the artistic part of the event, the first-year students of the faculty performed the poem "Ulu Ondar" by Arzu Mammadova and the song "Ana" performed by Sevil Kanan Ahmadli. At the end of the event, the 3rd year student of the faculty, Sakina Babayeva, recited the poem "Dede Heydar - Ataturk".
