PHYSICS OLYMPIAD DEDICATED TO THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF NATIONAL LEADER HEYDAR ALIYEV WAS HELD AT SSU
On May 6, under the motto "Today's student, tomorrow's scientist" dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, the Physics olympiad was held among students of the 9th-11th grades of Sumgayit city schools, organized by the faculty of Physics and electroenergetics of Sumgayit State University.
The event was opened by SSU vice-rector for Social affairs and public relations associate professor Elmar Khalilov, who conveyed the greetings of Sumgayit State University rector professor Elkhan Huseynov to the event participants and wished them success. The vice-rector spoke about the role of this event in the current development of education as one of the series of events organized within the framework of the "Year of Heydar Aliyev", the importance of educating intellectual youth and highly qualified personnel.
Then the dean of the faculty, associate professor Tamella Ahmadova, made a speech and wished success to the participants of the event and talked about the importance of the Olympiad. He said that holding the Olympiad plays the role of a platform and creates a foundation for the expansion of our cooperation relations and the achievement of the goals in the field of education.
It should be noted that 120 students from 34 schools in Sumgait city participated in the Olympiad. For each class, participants were presented with 5 open-ended questions categorized with a coefficient of 10 points (with a total assessment of 50 points). The questions of the Olympiad, held in order to create interest in science among schoolchildren, were prepared by the scientists of the university.
After the announcement of the results of the Olympiad, diplomas and awards will be given to the winners, and incentive diplomas to the distinguished participants.
