On November 23, an event called "Fibonacci on the Calendar" dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the Sumgayit State University was organized by the Mathematics faculty of Sumgayit State University.

First, the dear memory of the martyrs of the Patriotic war, who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan was commemorated.

The event was opened by the dean of the faculty of Mathematics, associate professor Khalida Hasanova  congratulated the staff of Sumgait State University on the occasion of its 60th anniversary and stated that Sumgait State University has achieved many historical achievements in the past 60 years. Day by day developing and strengthening material and technical base, personnel potential, auditoriums equipped with the latest achievements of high technologies, laboratories and classrooms, electronic library, teaching methods that meet modern standards, "Student House" and its complexes that are a bridge between history and modernity, taking into account all aboved SSU is a city within a city.

Associate professor Khalida Hasanova stated that holding this event called "Fibonacci on the Calendar" has an educational purpose and gave brief information about the importance of this day. The main purpose of the game is to develop students' talents and abilities in the field of mathematics, worldviews, intellectual knowledge levels and to further increase their interest in such knowledge competitions.

Presentations and scences  dedicated to the "Fibonacci sequence" prepared by students were shown at the event. Interesting information was given about the history of this sequence, its uses, and its place in art and music.

Later, the intellectual knowledge competition called "Fibonacci" was started among the students.

Then, the rector of the university professor Elkhan Huseynov  gave a speech and shared his impressions about the event, stating that such a competition serves to increase the interest of students in the subject of mathematics, to reveal talented young people, expressed his confidence that it will strengthen their sense of scientific motivation and guide them to future success, and presented diplomas to the winners of the competition.

At the event, well-known artists of our republic and other young artists congratulated the SSU team with their performances.

It should be noted that today is celebrated by math lovers on the 23rd of the 11th month based on the first elements of the "Fibonacci sequence" discovered by the famous Italian mathematician Leonardo De Pizza.
