On May 27, the delegation of Manisa Celal Bayar University of Turkey were  at Sumgayit State University  under the leadership of  rector prof. Dr.Ahmet Atach .

First, the rector, professor Elkhan  Huseynov  met with the rector of Manisa Jalal Bayar University of Turkey prof. Dr. Ahmet Atach and expressed his pleasure to see the guests at the university. During the round table  they exchanged views on the development of science and education.

During the meeting, the rector expressed satisfaction with the expansion of cooperation, emphasizing the strategic level of Azerbaijan-Turkey relations based on the principles of mutual respect and good neighborliness, one of the priorities of our country's foreign policy, and the interest in further development of relations in education. He noted that the Azerbaijani-Turkish relations  established on the basis of historical friendship, mutual trust, sincere relations and high-level cooperation  are constantly strengthening. The fact that our peoples have the same ancestry, language, religion, culture and many other ties have always made these two countries native to each other. Today, the relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey  chararacterized by national leader Heydar Aliyev as "one nation, two states"  are reaching a higher level as a logical consequence  of the right, purposeful policy pursued by the leaders of both countries, and in a number of areas are moving to a qualitatively new level.The development of relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey at this level makes an important contribution not only to these countries, but also to the overall progress and stability of the region. At the same time, one of the most important factors in bringing the Turkic world closer together today is the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey. The rector also noted that the role of strong moral and political support of brotherly Turkey in the restoration of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity with the great historical victory of Azerbaijan in the 44-day Patriotic War is undeniable.

Giving detailed information about the activities, international relations, education, teaching process and achievements of the university the rector said that SSU closely cooperates with  Turkish universities within international programs. He noted that the cooperation between Sumgayit State University and Manisa Celal Bayar University would be beneficial for both sides, noting that the memorandum to be signed will create favorable conditions for strengthening relations between the two universities and stimulate the implementation of research projects.

Rector of Manisa Celal Bayar University prof. Dr. Ahmet Atach thanked  the rector of SSU  Elkhan Huseynov for the warm welcome . He noted that the memorandum of cooperation to be signed between the universities, along with the expansion of relations  will give a great impetus to the development of science and education.

Then, with the participation of the staff of the university  the rector professor Elkhan Huseynov on behalf of Sumgayit State University , and  the rector prof. Dr. Ahmet Aytach on behalf of Manisa Jalal Bayar University signed a memorandum  between two universities.

We  should  say  that the subject of the memorandum is to establish cooperation between the parties in the field of education and science of mutual interest, to expand, strengthen and develop inter-university relations based on the experience and capabilities of the parties.

Then the delegation of Manisa Jalal Bayar University visited the Heydar Aliyev Center operating at the university. The director of the center Tarana Namazova gave detailed information to the guests about the establishment and activities of the center, the life of the National Leader and presented them  booklets and gifts reflecting detailed information about the university.

Manisa Jalal Bayar University was established in 1992. The university has faculties of Medicine, Economics and Management, Engineering, Literature, Sports, Business, Theology, Dentistry, Art and Architecture and others.

The university is an active member of   the  MCBU  European University Association, the European Erasmus Coordinators Association and there are cooperation agreements with universities from around the world, including Azerbaijan.
