On May 20 an online scientific-practical webinar dedicated to "Ecology Day" was held   organized by the department of Ecology of the faculty of Chemistry and biology  at Sumgayit State University.

The professional holiday of the employees of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, established by the Decree of the national leader Heydar Aliyev dated May 23, 2001, was established by the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev dated May 16, 2007. In accordance with the order signed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, May 23 is celebrated annually in our country as a professional holiday of employees of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources. Employees of the department of Ecology of Sumgayit State University also traditionally celebrate this professional holiday every year.

We  should  note that special attention is paid to the implementation of various environmental awareness activities for the development of environmental education at SSU.

The webinar was attended by the head of the department of Emergency Situations and Life Safety of AUAC, head of the laboratory of the Institute of Radiation Problems of ANAS, corresponding member of ANAS, doctor of Chemical sciences Islam Mustafayev, head of the department of Biophysics and Biochemistry of Baku State University, professor Rovshan Khalilov and Farid Piriyev, head of regional Department No. 4 of the Ministry of Natural Resources  , Elmar Musayev head of Sector, Vusal Ibrahimli head of Karabakh Regional Department No. 12 of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and employees of Sumgayit Child and Youth Development Center No. 1, as well as professors and teachers of Chemistry and Biology the staff of undergraduates  and students of Ecology and Ecological Engineering.

The webinar was opened by the head of the department of Ecology, associate professor Rahila Ahmadova who greeted the participants, congratulated  the ecologists on their professional holiday and spoke about the work done to solve environmental problems in our country, the state"s care in this area, state programs and the important role of ecology.

Then  participants spoke about differents topics: Rovshan Khalilov head of the department of Biophysics and Biochemistry faculty of Biology of  Baku State University, "Magnetic properties of stress in living systems and their application in biomedicine", corresponding member of ANAS, doctor of Chemical sciences Islam Mustafayev "Global environmental problems in Azerbaijan", Elmar Musayev “Ecological situation of Sumgayit city”,Vusal Ibrahimli  “Rehabilitation of liberated lands”, associate professor Rahila Ahmadova, “The role of teaching  in environmental education” and Tunzala Babayeva  senior lecturer of the department of Ecology, “Restoration of biodiversity in liberated areas”.

The speeches were presented to the participants and there was an interesting exchange of views on the topic.
