A book exhibition dedicated to March 31 - the Day of the Genocide of Azerbaijanis was held at SSU
A book exhibition dedicated to March 31 - the Day of the Genocide of Azerbaijanis was held at the Scientific Library of Sumgayit State University on March 30.
 The victims of the genocide was commemorated  with a minute of silence at the exhibition.
Opening the event, director of the Scientific Library Naila Amrahova spoke about the massacres committed by Baku Soviet and Dashnak Armenian armed groups against Azerbaijanis in 1918 in Baku and surrounding villages, as well as in Shamakhi, Guba, Khachmaz, Lankaran, Salyan, Zangazur, Karabakh, Nakhchivan and other areas. According to official sources, tens of thousands of Azerbaijanis were killed and people were  lost as a result of the genocide.The discovery of the remains of more than 400 people of different ages in the Guba Genocide Memorial Complex established with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in the mass grave defined  in Guba is a clear example of genocide. He noted that as a result of the serious efforts and initiative of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the Armenian atrocities were given a legal and political assessment. By the Decree signed by the Great Leader on March 26, 1998, March 31 is celebrated as the Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis every year.
Chief librarian of the Scientific Library Khatira Aliyeva “Genocide of Azerbaijanis in Baku District”, teacher of the department of history of Azerbaijan and Eastern Europe Aysel Shamilova “Genocide of Armenians against Azerbaijanis in the regions”, head of Information and Bibliography department of the Scientific Library Ragsana Abdurahmanova “March Genocide in Literature” (bibliographic) made reports on the massacres and looting committed by the Armenian armed forces against the Azerbaijanis in March 1918. The massacres and genocides committed by Armenians continued in the following years, only in the twentieth century Azerbaijanis were exposed to mass massacres, genocides and ethnic cleansing four times - in 1905-1906, 1918-1920, 1948-1953 and 1988-1993. they said it was another genocide. First vice president of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva and vice president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva spoke about the invaluable cares of the Khojaly genocide in the world recognition and legal assessment of the genocide.
Then, a video on the March 31 genocide of Azerbaijanis was shown.
At the end of the event, the participants got acquainted with books, pictures, newspaper and magazine materials published in Azerbaijani and foreign languages ​​at the exhibition "March 31 - is the Genocide of Azerbaijanis" organized by the National Library.
