MINISTRY OF EDUCATION HOLDS TRADITIONAL MEETING WITH HEI OFFICIALS IN CHARGE OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AND WORK WITH FOREIGN STUDENTS
On December 10, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan organized an online meeting with the officials in charge of international relations and work with foreign students of higher education institutions.
The main purpose of the meeting was to get acquainted with the current situation in the process of internationalization of Azerbaijani higher education institutions, international activities and ensure more effective coordination of these activities with the Ministry of Education, as well as to discuss the education and promotion of foreigners in our country and new challenges.
The meeting was opened by Tural Ahmadov, Head of the International Relations Department of the Ministry of Education, who greeted the participants and gave the floor to Deputy Minister of Education Firudin Gurbanov. Firudin Gurbanov spoke about the wide opportunities provided by the state legislation in the field of internationalization of education and attraction of foreign citizens to HEIs of our country, at the same time emphasizing the importance of this policy in strengthening the country"s economy.
During the meeting, employees of the Ministry of Education made presentations reflecting the statistics of foreign students studying in our country in accordance with the countries, universities and levels of education, and gave instructions and recommendations to increase the number of foreign students.
Mujdat Hasanov, Head of the Sector for Education Abroad and Work with Foreign Students, and vice-rectors for International Relations at Higher Education Institutions, heads of departments, deans for Work with Foreign Students and other officials attended the meeting. Vice-Rector for International Relations of Sumgayit State University Assoc. prof. Gafar Atayev and Head of the International Cooperation and Foreign Students Department Sadagat Fatullayeva participated in the event.
At the end of the meeting, numerous questions of the participants were answered by Firudin Gurbanov and representatives of the Ministry of Education.
