International relations in the field of education in Azerbaijan have been established in accordance with the national interests of our country. The development of international cooperation in education, in addition to improving the quality of higher education, creates conditions for the provision of competent and skilled personnel in enterprises and organizations with relevant jobs as specialists. In this regard, Sumgayit State University pays special attention to expanding foreign relations.

On April 7, the first online event was organized by the Department of Finance and Accounting of Sumgayit State University in the framework of future cooperation with St. Petersburg State University of Economics.

The purpose of the event is to organize the implementation of activities in the field of education and science in accordance with the Agreement on Cooperation between the Departments of Finance and Accounting of Sumgayit State University and the Department of Accounting and Analysis of St. Petersburg State University of Economics on June 20, 2019. For this purpose, an online meeting was organized between the departments of the Faculty of Economics and Management of SSU and the relevant departments of the St. Petersburg State University of Economics for the formation and development of future cooperation.

The event was opened by the head of the Department of Finance and Accounting, Associate Professor Loghman Abdullayev, who greeted the participants and noted that it is a bit late to hold events on the basis of the bilateral agreement on the current pandemic. In accordance with the future cooperation, he informed the participants about the work planned.

Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management, Associate Professor Aynura Yahyayeva greeted the guests and participants, spoke about the history, faculties and specialties of Sumgayit State University, spoke about the work done to expand international relations, prospects for cooperation between the two universities. Aynura Yahyayeva noted the high prestige and success of the St. Petersburg State University of Economics at the international level and expressed her views on the importance of existing cooperation. She noted the successful development of relations between Azerbaijani and Russian universities by Sumgayit State University, the consistent work of the Faculty of Economics and Management with a number of Russian universities, including the relevant faculties and departments of St. Petersburg State University of Economics.

Professor Nikolai Voytolovsky, Deputy Head of the Department of Accounting and Auditing on Academic issues, St. Petersburg State University of Economics, greeted the participants and gave detailed information about the faculties and departments of the St. Petersburg State University of Economics. He noted that this meeting was of great importance for the development of the two universities.

Mehman Ahmadzadeh, a senior lecturer at the Department of Finance and Accounting, shared his memories of St. Petersburg State University of Economics as a scientist who defended his dissertation at the same university in the 1970-1980s, based on many years of experience.

Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Finance of St. Petersburg State Economic University Irina Evstafyeva, Dean of the Faculty of Management Professor Igor Fedoseev, Deputy Head of the Department of Accounting and Analysis on Teaching Olga Ostrrovskaya expressed their views on the importance of the event and the importance of future cooperation with other departments.

Afterwards Head of the Department of Economics of Sumgayit State University, Associate Professor Lala Mahmudova spoke about inter-departmental cooperation, Head of the Department of Business Organization and Management Galib Huseynov about relations in the field of education, Professor of the Department of World Economy and Marketing Shafa Aliyev spoke about the importance of submitting scientific articles and theses to the International Scientific Practical Conferences of higher education institutions, which are mutually represented, and published in scientific journals.

Rauf Rzayev, a graduate of the Faculty of Economics and Management of SSU, Head of the International Financial Reporting Standards Department of Azerishig OJSC, IFS Specialist, said in his speech that Sumgayit State University, where he received his master's degree, played an important role in his future career. He informed the participants that the mutual cooperation between the two universities will be important in increasing the knowledge of students.

Participants' questions were answered and opinions were exchanged.

At the end of the event, Associate Professor Loghman Abdullayev, emphasizing the importance of the event, consistently brought to the attention of the participants the work agreed in the framework of future cooperation.

a) Participation of employees of relevant departments in international conferences held by both universities with articles and theses;

b) Submission of articles and theses to the scientific journals of both universities by the employees of the relevant departments;

c) Online participation of faculty members of the relevant departments of both universities in the classes of students and masters;

d) Joint organization of discussions of employees of both university departments on various scientific topics, etc.
