On December 10, at Sumgayit State University at the Faculty of Chemistry and Biology, an educational event on the theme of "Human Rights" was organized by the Student Youth Organization.

Opening the event, deputy dean Sabir Alekberov spoke about the priority of human rights in our country and the work done by our state in this area. He said that according to the State Program for the Protection of Human Rights, approved by national leader Heydar Aliyev on June 18, 1998, equal opportunities and conditions were created for all people, regardless of their ethnic, religious or political views. Considerable work has been done to ensure human freedom, and steps have been taken towards the promotion and protection of human rights. He also noted that this policy has been successfully continued under the leadership of the current President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

Chairman of the SYO for the faculty Kanan Namazov and third-year student Bahar Mikayilova delivered speech and said that on December 10, 1948, the UN General Assembly adopted the "Universal Declaration of Human Rights." The purpose of the adoption of this document was to establish the human rights and norms that all countries should follow. The declaration was soon adopted by most countries of the world, even the most brutal dictatorships. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights is an important international document demonstrating the possibilities of cooperation between countries with different socio-economic structures in the field of human rights. This document also has a positive impact on the constitution and laws of the countries of the world.
