THE PARTICIPANTS OF STUDENT SUMMER SCHOOL GOT ACQUAINTED WITH SUMGAYIT CITY
On July 15, the guests got acquainted with Sumgayit city by participation of professor-teacher and student staff and structure heads after opening ceremony of “Travel to Land of Fire Azerbaijan” Student Summer School at Sumgayit State University, which was organized by support of Education Ministry and initiative of Association of Russian-Azerbaijani Universities.
The guides gave wide information about history of the city and noted that this year we will celebrate 70th anniversary of Sumgayit city.
The guests firstly visited Heydar Aliyev Center, located in Heydar Aliyev Park. It was noted that the materials are demonstrated in the Center reflecting various periods of life and statehood activity of National leader. There is a big conference hall for 420 persons for holding different events. There are service rooms equipped with computers and modern equipment in the Center. Exhibition hall, carpet weaving circle, meeting hall for 40 persons, smart classroom, painting and photo studios, electronic library, computer, dance, intellectual game circles are functioning here.
Afterwards the participants went to Flag Museum located in Sumgayit Seaside Boulevard. They were informed that construction of the building commenced in February, 2017 and concluded in September. There are 2 exhibition rooms, administrative and utility room. 6 sections are functioning in exhibition rooms. The map of the period of Azerbaijani khanates, flags, coat of arms of XIX century Azerbaijani cities, ancient metal coins, documents of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic are demonstrated in the Museum.
Sumgayit Boulevard and Seaside Park amazed the guests. It was noted that Sumgayit Boulevard is differed from other parks for its area and landscape, it has direct way to the beach.
Then the participants visited Ludwigshafen Park. It was emphasized that Sumgayit has friendship relations with 12 cities of 10 countries and established relations with Ludwigshafen city in 1977, in the period of national leader Heydar Aliyev’s administration. It was also highlighted that honorary doctorate title was presented to the Burgomaster of Ludwigshafen Eva Louse for her activities in improvement of fraternal relations between Sumgayit and Ludwigshafen and support of science and education.
In the end the guests expressed their gratitude to university administration for attention devoted to them.
