On November 16, 2022, the president of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev awarded a group of employees of Sumgait State University with the honorary title of "Honorary teacher" and "Taraggi" medals for their services in the development of education in Azerbaijan on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Sumgait State University.

On December 22, the Minister of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan Emin Amrullayev received a group of awarded employees of SSU and presented them  awards.

The Minister of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan Emin Amrullayev congratulated the employees who were awarded with the Decree of the president of the country Ilham Aliyev, and stated that the reforms carried out in the direction of the development of education in our country are already bearing fruit. Teacher"s work is always highly valued, our state takes care of improving the financial condition and well-being of educational workers. The minister also emphasized that Sumgayit State University has undergone great development during the past period, has gained important achievements in the field of specialist training for Sumgait city and the region, which is the industrial center of Azerbaijan. I am sure that this institution of higher education with 60 years of experience will continue to make its contribution to the training of highly professional and competent specialists in accordance with modern global challenges and to the formation of a scientific and intellectual environment.

Rector of Sumgayit State University professor Elkhan Huseynov expressed his deep gratitude to Emin Amrullayev- Minister of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan for his warm welcome. On behalf of the university staff, he expressed his thankfulness to the head of state for the high awards given to the staff of SSU by the relevant decrees of the president Ilham Aliyev. Speaking about the 60-year scientific-pedagogical activity of the SSU with rich traditions, and the state"s concern for the development of science and education in our country, professor Elkhan Huseynov emphasized that the achievements of the SSU over the past 60 years were made thanks to the hard work of the teaching staff. Of course, each member of the SSU family has their share in the achievements. Here there is attention, care and respect between teacher-student, student-colleague, employee-teacher and management.

The awarded teachers gave a speech and thanked them for the high value given to their work.
