“Chess Tournament” was held among young volunteers of Sumgayit by the organization of Youth and Sports Head Office at Sumgayit Chess School, dedicated to memory of Great leader Heydar Aliyev.

At first, state anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was sounded.

Acting chief of Head Office Elgun Humbatov delivered speech in the event and notified that the Tournament is dedicated to the memory of National leader and held for improving outlook and intellectual level of youth and stimulating their mental advancement, according to proper paragraphs of State Program “Azerbaijani youth in 2017-2021” approved by the Order dated September 15, 2017 of President Ilham Aliyev. He noted: “Development of youth, increasing their outlook and integration into international arena are the main directions of state policy. The events, which were held recently in Azerbaijan, show its effects in forming young volunteers. Azerbaijan is among the first countries, which adopted a law on volunteers. There are special paragraphs in “Azerbaijani Youth” State Program on stimulating volunteer movement.

Care and attention of Youth and Sports Ministry and city administration are highlighted in the speeches.

10 teams, representing different fields took part in the tournament.

Sumgayit State University’s “Shah” team was awarded I place, Sumgayit State Technical College’s “Captains” team II place, Sumgayit State University’s “Zafar” team III place in the competition.

The winners were presented cup, honorary diploma and presents.
