Beginning of new academic year causes realization of new ideas in every education institution. Acceptance of I course students by the Rector stimulate them. On October 10, rector of Sumgayit State University Professor Elkhan Huseynov met the students who gained high score in 2018-2019 academic year.

At first, Professor Elkhan Huseynov congratulated the students for their high results and notified that intelligent, smart youth is the proud of the country. He noted: “This is the second time that we met with you. As I mentioned in the first day of university- Knowledge day, the youth is the future of our country, state and nation. Parents and teachers have special place in building this future. Dear students! The reason of late occurrence of the meeting is your acquaintance with the university and adaptation to teaching process. Certainly, you differentiated distinctive aspects of university and school. You got acquainted with your lecturers, who are well-known scholars of their fields. I believe that you felt parental love by professor-teaching staff. We are ready to hear your questions and respond them as university administration”. Rector continued: “Education policy covers all fields of Azerbaijani society. As Great leader noted: “Education is a significant area of every country and society. The society cannot improve without education.” Education institutions, especially universities play important role in this improvement. Like all the universities of Azerbaijan, Sumgayit State University has special place in realizing these tasks”.

Rector also pointed out that quality indicators of education have raised considerably as a result of continuous care and modern approach to education. “The number of entrants, who are admitted to universities and those who gained high score, are increasing every year. The care and attention of President Ilham Aliyev to advancement of education and educational institutions shows that this field has been included in substantial principles of state policy. Substantial works have been done for the development of education; preparation and execution of education reforms and State programs on improvement of education are always kept in the center of attention”: he noted.

Sumgayit State University makes strides toward integration into European education arena and expands relations with prestigious universities of Eastern, European and Slavic countries and carries out scientific-pedagogical exchanges about leading technologies, management methods and innovations.

Expressing his proud about achievements of students, rector emphasized the toil of parents and teachers for these achievements. He mentioned that while choosing specialty entrants prefer SSU, which is the only university of Sumgayit. Rector said: “So, universities are recognized for their reputation. Sumgayit State University is keeping on and developing its activity in all fields not only as an education institution, but also as a cultural center of the city. Instituted teaching and scientific-research laboratories, Linguistic Center, newly set up “smart boards” in auditoria, connection of university to internet network, expansion of international relations raise the prestige of the university. The professors of prestigious higher education institutions visit our university, met students and deliver lectures”.

Professor Elkhan Huseynov noted that specialist preparation is carried out on program of doctor of sciences for the first time of SSU history. Institution of Dissertation Council on specialties of Chemical technology and Chemical engineering is a sample of state care and attention to young PhD candidates for defending their dissertations.

Rector recommended students to be active in social life of SSU, to write scientific articles and join to Student Scientific Society; he responded students’ questions and discussed several suggestions.

The students expressed their gratitude to Rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov for his attention and promised to work hard for being qualified specialists and true citizen.
