On November 28, winners of interfaculty sports spartakiad, essay competition called “My native university”, information technologies Olympiad and interfaculty artistic creativity competition held on 55th anniversary of Sumgayit State University were awarded by university rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov.
In the event, a group of professor-teaching staff were awarded with Honorary diploma by university administration and Trade Union Committee for their effective scientific and pedagogical activity. Also, money award was introduced to all employees of the university.
Elkhan Huseynov delivered speech in the event: “Every high school has its own past, present and future. Sumgayit State University is one of those universities which may be proud of its activity and is able to solve prior issues in the future. During its functioning period as a branch, as an institute and as a university it provided industrial and educational institutions with highly qualified staff not only in Azerbaijan, but also in Former Soviet Union and made contribution to our country’s intellectual potential. Appreciating the achievements President Ilham Aliyev awarded 14 co-workers of the university with “Taraqqi” medal and title of “Honored teacher” with his order signed on November 2. This is the obvious sign of government care for university collective.” Rector thanked to President on behalf of professors, teachers and students and congratulated every member of the collective on occasion.
Rector also noted that along with being scientific and educational institution, Sumgayit State University is also a cultural center. “Sport has a special place in the social life of the university. Additionally, there are dance groups, song ensemble and various sports sections under the sports club consisting of students. The university makes contributions not only to educational field, but also to its cultural life. The main aim of all above mentioned competitions is to inspire our students, to improve their aesthetic taste, form a cultural lifestyle, discover students and co-workers’ talents in various fields, help them to improve their skills and support them to spend their free time effectively.”
The event continued with a concert.
