On June 13, Vitezslav Pivonka Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Czech Republic to Azerbaijan Republic visited Sumgayit State University. The rector Professor Elkhan Huseynov hosted the Ambassador and notified his contentment to see him in our university.
Rector Elkhan Huseynov widely spoke about Azerbaijan – Czech friendship and brotherhood and development of economic, cultural relations, as well as cooperation in the fields of science and education. He noted that, Heydar Aliyev’s political wisdom induced to improve these relations. Nowadays, that policy is carried on successfully by President Mr. Ilham Aliyev.
Informing about the history, present day and international relations of university the Rector notified that, our university collaborates with several foremost higher educational institutions. He emphasized that, this meeting is so significant for development of partnership in the sphere of science and education between two countries.
Future cooperation perspectives and other issues were discussed in the meeting.
Noting his gratitude for invitation the Ambassador talked about the history of Czech Republic and bilateral relations between two countries, said that, he was in Sumgayit State University for the first time. The Ambassador appraised his satisfaction on current partnership and announced his hope for growth of these relations.
Afterwards, Mr. Vitezslav Pivonka met with teaching and student staff of university. They exchanged ideas on science and education and notified that, Mr. Ambassador and personnel of Embassy will deliver lectures to our students.
Numerous questions of students were answered. One of our students asked the ambassador a question on Nagorno Karabakh: “Your country is represented in several International Organizations: UNO, European Parliament, European Union. Armenians occupied our ancestral lands. We would like to learn your attitude and regard of your country on this issue.” Responding the question sincerely and profoundly the Ambassador notified that, they support Azerbaijan’s justified position and territorial integrity, because they also conceive our feelings. He expressed his belief that, justice will take its place and you will rebound to your eternal and perpetual lands!
