According to Order of President Ilham Aliyev on declaring 2019 “Year of Nasimi”, a series of events arranged at our University. Spartakiad on 3 types of sports (chess, checkers and backgammon) among faculties was held between co-workers of Sumgayit State University and Sumgayit State Technical College under SSU.

On April 4, award ceremony of winners was held at Sports hall. Launching the ceremony, rector of University Professor Elkhan Huseynov notified importance of this kind of events in terms of provision and promotion of sport among employees. Speaking about President Ilham Aliyev’s special care and attention to the advancement of sport, rector emphasized that gained achievements and medals in various international competitions by Azerbaijani sportsmen prove this improvement. This care and attention also has impact on sports life of Sumgayit State University. The University gains great achievements not only in education, but also in sport. We are proud that we have students, who represent our country in international sports arena worthily.

Then, awarding got started. According to the results, Engineering faculty was awarded I place, Chemistry and biology faculty II, Mathematics faculty III place.

Rector presented honorary diplomas, cups and presents to winners. They expressed gratitude to University administration for organization of spartakiad in a high level.

After the ceremony, the spartakiad started off among students dedicated to 96th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev.
