OUR UNIVERSITY SUPPORTS THE PROJECT OF IDEA PUBLIC UNITY “LET’S CHANGE EVERY PAPER FOR A LEAF”
The world is advancing steadily in modern period. The size of production is increasing annually. Since one of the main reasons of this is rapid growth of the world population and it leads to problem of recycling wastes.
Rapid growth of population, high living standards raise paper consumption. The paper consumption depends on income level in the country. Azerbaijan Paper and Cardboard Production Plant LTD is involved in processing of paper wastes and production of new paper products. The plant has been functioning under Azersun Holding since 2013.
On February 23, 2017, “IDEA” Public Unity, which is functioning on protection of environment, launched the project with Azersun Holding and Ministry of Education about reuse of plastic and paper waste. Within the project the boxes distributed to most state institutions, some private companies and most of higher education institutions for assorting waste in the source. The main object of the project is to stimulate recycling in the country, to facilitate the raw material supply for processing enterprises, to economize natural resources, minimize the amount of waste and enlighten the population.
Several projects are implemented in the country in this direction. The "Let's change every paper for a leaf" project is realized by Ministry of Education, IDEA Public Unity, State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations and Azerbaijan Paper and Cardboard Production Plant. The purpose of the current event is to reduce paper wastage and save the trees by recycling, environmental protection and maintain ecological balance.
Sumgayit State University also supports the IDEA Public Unity’s project “Let's change every paper for a leaf”. Special boxes are placed in Editorial and publishing department of the University for collecting paper waste by IDEA Public Unity and Azersun Holding. Recycling useless paper at the University has a positive impact on preserving ecological environment and forming ecological culture.
